The Love Project
At The Love Project, we believe in the profound power of love to heal and rebuild. Every day, vulnerable women in Memphis, Tennessee, face challenges that leave them feeling forgotten and unseen. That’s where we step in—with compassion, care, and a commitment to help them rise again.
What do we do?
The Love Project serves vulnerable women in Memphis, Tennessee by providing basic necessities and support. We serve women who have fallen through the cracks of society by showing love and support with no strings attached..
How do we do it?
Using a couple of storage units, we spend the week collecting, sorting, and packing supplies. One night a week, several volunteers go out on the street to distribute care bags stocked with snacks and toiletries, feminine products, meals, and many other items to women in need. Our methodology might seem radical to some. We love the women we serve with absolutely no strings attached. We don’t ask questions. There is no pressure for women to believe anything or perform in any way. There are no judgements or assumptions made. There are no hidden motives. Just love.
Who do we serve?
Women.
The women we serve are diverse and so are their experiences and current situations. We serve women of all ages and ethnicities. Some of our clients are unhoused. They sleep in tents, cars, abandoned houses, RV’s. Some are marginally housed. They rent a room for the night, sleep on someone’s floor, or live in a boarding house. Some are housed but still need support.
Many of our clients suffer from substance use disorder, severe mental illness, and cognitive disabilities, while we have found that ALL of the women we serve have endured trauma. Many of our clients never had a chance. Their parents rented them out as children, introduced them to drugs, or there were no parents at all.
The women we serve are amazing. They are resilient, strong, beautiful, kind, and giving. We have learned from them that those who have the least give the most.
Why do we serve these women?
Because they deserve it. Every human being deserves love.
Most of the women we serve have never had anyone care for them without expecting something in return. In their darkest moments, we want them to remember that someone cares.
Women are often underserved. They have unique needs. Women heal women. When you heal women, you heal the world.
